Journey to Excel takes pride in making the game fun. It is key to enjoy the process of training and playing. Programs include the combination of a positive environment and of challenging on-Ice development sessions. This generates internal motivation and results in effective training. Journey to Excel involves Adrian Lomonaco, an on ice skills coach for Hockey Canada and Jennifer Botterill, a four time Olympian with the Canadian Women’s Hockey team. Adrian Lomonaco - Professional Hockey Consultant

​Adrian is a power skating and on ice skills coach for players at the NHL, Olympic, National and Amateur levels. Adrian has a unique ability to break down the skills of hockey, and to teach players. Under Adrian’s guidance, players have been rewarded with achieving new levels of success in hockey.

Adrian’s knowledge and teaching abilities are the top of the field of hockey advancement. He knows how to reach players and to elevate their play to a new standards. He played professional hockey in Europe and has experience in teaching and skill development for over twenty years.

Adrian’s vision and understanding of the game has been instrumental in player improvement across North America. Adrian has created specialized skill progress programs for many hockey organizations. He has also been a leader in teaching coaches. Adrian runs clinics and programs to educate not only players, but also hockey coaches. He has an ability to teach creative play, and the essential hockey fundamentals. Adrian is able to communicate and demonstrate development in a way that improves the game of hockey at many different levels.

Jennifer Botterill - Professional Hockey Consultant

Jennifer is one of Canada’s most successful athletes, and has attained Olympic glory on numerous occasions.  She is a 3-time Olympic Gold Medalist, and an Olympic Silver Medalist with the Canadian Women’s Hockey Team. Jennifer played an integral role on the team that was highlighted by assisting on the gold medal winning goal at the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games.

An honours graduate of Harvard University, Jennifer has always enjoyed maintaining balance in her life.  She is the only 2-time winner of the Patty Kazmaier award, given to the top player in NCAA hockey. She has won 5 World Championships with Team Canada, and was twice named the most valuable player of the World Championship tournament.

Botterill is thriving in her role as an Athlete Ambassador with the International Olympic Committee and the International Ice Hockey Federation leading up to the Youth Olympic Games in 2012 and the Winter Olympics in 2014.

Jennifer’s work as broadcaster for MSG in New York, studio analyst for TSN, her role with CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada as a Think Hockey specialist, her involvement as an RBC Play Hockey Ambassador, her guest roles on Off the Record on TSN, and her host role for Gretzky.com has given her a great opportunity to share the joy of sport.

Jennifer is an engaging speaker, and loves the opportunity to help others. She takes great pride in bringing out the best in those around her, and pursuing excellence in all that she does.  Jennifer embraces the chance to connect with her audience, and to share some of the many valuable lessons she has learned. Her message is delivered in a sincere and heartfelt way. With over fourteen years of experience, she is devoted to motivating people. She is very passionate about having a positive impact every day!

Jennifer has a strong connection to the community. She is involved with many charity organizations such as Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Right to Play, CanFund, Ladies First Hockey Foundation and the Children’s Wish Foundation.  She is devoted to creating a healthier and happier country and enjoys collaborating with At My Best, Fitspirit, and Eat Smart Ontario to promote wellness.

The Botterill family has provided Jennifer with plenty of inspiration as she learned from her mother, father and brother.  Her mother competed in two Olympic Games as a speedskater, her father Cal is at the top of the field in the world of Sport Psychology, and her brother Jason is a 3-time World Junior Hockey Champion, 3-time Stanley Cup Champion and is currently a general manager in the National Hockey League

Steven McCollum - Head Strength & Conditioning Coach 

  • ​​Steve is the assistant Strength Coach of the Toronto Sceptres (PWHL)
  • Steve is a former elite athlete turned Strength Coach. Head Strength Coach at JTE for the past 10 years. Steve has worked with and developed athletes from minor hockey all the way up to the pro’s.
  • Steve is an experienced Strength Coach that personalizes each program to help increase athlete’s performance on the ice and help reduce injury.
  • Steve is a certified strength coach via Can Fit Pro and NSCA
  • Steve has experience training current and former PWHL/NFL/CFL/NHL/AHL/OHL/NLL athletes
  • Steve was a 3 Year Captain at Bishop’s University for the Gaiters football team before graduating.
